The story of Oliva began in 1886, when Melanio Oliva started growing tobacco in Cuba's fertile Pinar del Río region. Over the years and through multiple generations, the family endured political change, exile, and relocation—eventually establishing roots in Nicaragua. There, the Oliva Cigar Co. flourished, bringing generations of experience to a new chapter of production. Their dedication to quality and flavor remains unchanged. Today, Oliva controls its entire supply chain—from seed to finished cigar—ensuring consistency, integrity, and mastery in every step.

Current Production and Global Impact

Since being acquired by J. Cortès in 2016, Oliva has more than doubled its production, reaching approximately 40 million hand-rolled cigars annually. This expansion is supported by their Tabolisa factory in Estelí, where over 300 skilled rollers continue the family's legacy with precision and care. With a presence in more than 18 countries and the U.S. accounting for 95% of its sales, Oliva is one of the leading global forces in the cigar industry today.
